The Tamiya R/C Opel Calibra V6 Cliff TT-01E radio control model replica recreates the 1990s DTM racer.
Nothing screams classic 1990’s touring car DTM racing like the Opel Calibras that tore up racing circuits across Germany. Tamiya brings back a fan favorite with this R/C assembly kit that recreates the Opel Calibra V6 Cliff, which was one of the many teams that raced Opels during the 1990’s. The polycarbonate body is mounted on the TT-01 Type-E chassis, for ease of assembly. The Opel Calibra V6 Cliff was previously released on the Tamiya TA-02 chassis during the 1990’s R/C touring car boom.
The Opel Calibra V6 Cliff took part in the 1995 running of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) series. Entered by Joest Racing with the driver JJ. Lehto, the car was powered by a 2.5-liter V6 engine capable of 420 hp. The distinctive black body with the Cliff logo caught people’s eye, and this car showed off race pace strength in DTM races.
Tamiya's TT-01 Type E Chassis is a bathtub frame of the evolved shaft-driven 4WD TT-01 Type-E and has its motor and battery close to the ground for lower centre of gravity and optimum balance. Mounted on the bathtub frame are a fibreglass reinforced nylon upper deck and gear covers which improve rigidity, as well as a 3-piece tie rod to provide smooth steering action. The low centre of gravity, great balanced design, 4-wheel double wishbone suspension system, and front and rear differential gears all come together to result in superb driving characteristics.
